Kent Skates' letter in "Letters, Faxes and
Email", 04/02/08, extols the virtue of Abe Lincoln in
purportedly
condemning big government intervention in the
affairs of the states, when in fact, Abe was the first president to egregiously
violate the constitution by waging war on a sovereign nation, the
Confederate States of America, after the states comprising that nation had
exercised their constitutional right to secede from the Union of the United
States.
President Reagan might have been a more appropriate president to site
as a champion of limiting federal government.
