Psychological warfare It's interesting that neither political parties or the media have grasped the fact that we are fighting a war against an enemy who has perfected the use of psychological warfare.Only in recent history has there been a medium to adequately deliver an enemy's intercontinental ballistic message of fear and terror to the citizenry. And that same medium provides almost instant damage assessment back to the enemy. President Bush and company understand this fact but are stymied on to how to defend against its method of delivery, as protected by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment. However, defending against today's worldwide communications avenues would be almost impossible. The president has only one viable course of action, albeit one that requires years of human intelligence and infiltration. Minus the best intelligence assets, he has determinedly followed this course with slow and costly success and with questionable outcome, as evidenced by the enemy's recent success in determining our nation's mid-term elections. No world military power could have fathomed the scope of psychological warfare in today's era of amplified communications. Even Donald Rumsfeld's “military reorganization” plan failed to adequately address the warfare. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Field Marshall Bernard L. Montgomery and Gen. Douglas MacArthur, if placed in Bush's military commander's boots today, would encounter the same obstacles for which there is no quick fix. Armond “Si” Simmons |
