The recent letter "What is a holiday tree?" referring to a sign, "Holiday trees coming soon," asks: Has it gotten to where Christ has been taken out of Christmas trees?

Not to worry. Unbeknownst to the sign maker, "holiday," as defined by Encarta World English Dictionary, is "holy day: the day or days of a religious festival."
