In a letter, "War opponents are not 'cowards'", June 15, 2006, the writer expressed his strong disagreement with "the misguided fiasco called "war" in the Middle East".

Thankfully, there are those who disagree that the war is a "misguided fiasco" and understand that this war against terrorism "in the Middle East" is only an early battle in a much longer war that will continue with attacks on our homeland.  It may take more than a WWII determination to defeat this world-wide enemy.

With this in mind, it might be smart to heed the advice of John Stuart Mill, English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873):

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
