Is rock bottom next for U.S.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight for, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men." - John Stewart Mill

Sadly, our nation has become the victim of a global war of terrorism conducted by Islamofacists whose ultimate target is our minds (U.S. and coalition casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan are merely collateral damage).

The war is being fought in accordance with state-of-the-art psychological warfare textbook principles, toppling city governments worldwide and having already toppled our nation's Congress and is about to topple our presidency.

The terrorists' continuing success in our country is being made possible (a piece of cake?), by a U.S. national liberal faction who controls the Congress, the mainstream media and by many "miserable creatures" whom John Stewart Mill aptly describes.

I suppose that the nation's conservative faction is beginning to accept the fact that our nation just may necessarily need to hit bottom - really hit bottom - on the order of experiencing a catastrophe of 9/11 proportions times 100,000, with the expectation that this catastrophic "bottom" may just cause our national liberal faction and "miserable creatures" to become "better men."

From this point of rude awakening, "exertions of better men" just may allow our nation's pursuit of the war in a manner in which our freedom was won for us by our forefathers.

Another "similarity" between Coulter's column and gordonbass' post:

From the same Coulter column: "To this day, al-Qaida boosts the flagging morale of its jihadists by reminding them of America's humiliating retreat from Vietnam."

From gordonbass' post: "even now they encourage the jihadists by reminding them of America’s humiliating retreat from Vietnam. "

Here's what gordonbass said about me last Friday, April 6:

"Ms Santure's ideas and writing corresponds closely with that of Webhead, (a sort of hall monitor for this forum). Webhead is a veritable font of links, resources, etc., and totally void of original ideas."

Here's the link: http://forums.hattiesburgamerican.com/viewtopic.php?p=15404&highlight=#15404

What utter hypocrisy that gordonbass would say such a thing about me (or anyone), and then turn around and demonstrate that he himself is the one who is actually "totally void of original ideas."

Looks like this "hall monitor" just busted someone without a hall pass.

Nice incorporation of uncredited Ann Coulter rants in that last gordonbass post.

In gordon's post, the phrase "Liberals spent the Vietnam War rooting for the enemy and clamoring for America's defeat" came from this column:
http://www.uclick.com/client/bcc/ac/2007/01/03/

Also, the phrases "The most demeaning image of America, ever witnessed, was American personnel scrambling off the embassy roof while beating back our own allies" come from the same Coulter column.

Oh, also the part about being "promptly consumed in a maelstrom of violence." That also comes from the Coulter column, a column that appeared 1/3/07.

I wonder why gordonbass didn't given Coulter credit for her words. Of course, Coulter is a known plagiarist herself (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13803982/ who one shouldn't trust with a history of Vietnam--she argued with a Canadian reporter about whether Canada sent troops to Vietnam; she said Canada did, the reporter corrected her and was right http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0206-23.htm.

Also, gordonbass accused me the other day of not having original thoughts. Well, gordon, when I "borrow" from other people, I give them credit. Is it a conservative family value to use verbatim phrases from other writers without crediting them? Is that "original", sir? I would argue in the negative.

The Democrats, (“the miserable creatures”), are at least being consistent. They turned their backs on South Vietnam, betrayed an ally and trashed America’s word and reputation before the world.

The most demeaning image of America, ever witnessed, was American personnel scrambling off the embassy roof while beating back our own allies. (A scene that still puts the left leaning liberals into paroxysms of ecstasy.)

Iraq will, as Southeast Asia was, be promptly consumed in a maelstrom of violence. Islamic lunatics, not content with murdering their own, will feel no compunction to attacking American interests anywhere in the world…even now they encourage the jihadists by reminding them of America’s humiliating retreat from Vietnam.

Marginalized, Democrats have been lying in wait, hoping for the day they will have the opportunity to force another humiliating defeat on America. They spent the Vietnam war rooting for the enemy and clamoring for an American retreat, it is a tradition they have brought back for the war in Iraq.

Whether it is "rock bottom" or not I do not know. It is pretty certain that, unfortunately, there will most likely have to be tremendous loss of life, social turmoil, and much economic instability before their folly will be revealed and their political philosophy is, once again, returned to hell from whence it came.

Simmons is very fond of that John Stuart Mill quote. Mill is considered an important "liberal" philosopher. He was highly educated from an early age and by all accounts, an important thinker.

However, Mill himself never experienced combat.

Here are some WWII veterans--that is to say, people who HAVE experienced combat--speaking about WWII specifically and war in general (from the book "Passionate Declarations" by Howard Zinn):

"It was a useless war, as every war is...How goddamn foolish it is, the war. There's no war in the world that's worth fighting for, I don't care where it is. They can't tell me any different. Money, money is the thing that causes it all. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that the people that start wars and promote them are the men that make the money, make the ammunition, make the clothing and so forth. Just think of the poor kids that are starving to death in Asia and so forth that could be fed with how much you make one big shell out of. (Tommy Bridges)"

"...I hate it when they say 'He gave his life for his country.' Nobody gives their life for anything. We steal the lives of these kids. We take it away from them. They don't die for the honor and glory of their country. We kill them. (Admiral Gene LaRocque)"

And if anyone gets the bright idea to malign Howard Zinn as some clueless lefty, you should be aware that Zinn is also a WWII combat veteran.

Another veteran, Smedley Butler, put it very succinctly: "War is a racket."

Where the issue of whether or not to go to war is concerned, If pressed to choose between the views of someone who's actually fought in a war and the views of a privileged elite who lived far from the front lines, I'll take the former.
