Comments: Sir, First of all, I always wondered one thing about pilots; How do you walk with those giant, brass balls? I was an aviation Medic, with the 54th Aereomedical Evacuation Helicopter Co. (HA) in Chu Lai, in 68. (Actually I was assigned to the 534th Med. Det with the 1st Aviation BDE, 14th CAB, but was authorized to fly so I farmed out to the 54th) I read your tribute to the Medic and Crew chief, and on my end I have to give credit to those of you that flew into the bowels of Hell, _ucked the Devil himself, allowed us the opportunity to do our jobs, and brought us back out again, mostly in one piece. Mostly ... though there were those times that the Devil won ..... I wish to thank you, as a medic, a father, and a husband. If not for you, and many more like you, I would not be here writing you today, and because of you (all of you), there are other veterans out there today as well. My wish for you and all the other Army helicopter pilots is that you always have a full fuel cell, the skies are clear, and that God laughs with you. Clear Right ! Comments: Outstanding page about dustoff. As an 11B I was injured on a training accident and I remember the good care that dustoff gave me, and a couple of years later I was lucky enough to become a flight medic. I flew with the 501st AVN in Korea and at the 36th Med DET (AA) FT. Polk, LA. 11:21:00,August 30

Comments: Thank you very much for your DUSTOFF website --

I was a career H-2 rescue swimmer long after you and your men fought and blazed through the skies, but I always held you as my heroes. When I was 10, I saw Bridges at Toko Ri and told my mother I was going to be a helicopter rescue swimmer when I grew up, and I never wavered.
I think what the DUSTOFF guys endured and accomplished is embarrassingly unknown to history, and I am very glad that you are a part of the effort to add to the DUSTOFF legacy for coming generations. If folks lose sight of what you went through over there, then it vanishes --
I am building websites currently for some WW2 pilots, for just this reason. I think that you are living history, and the internet allows your input to increase the depth of experience for everyone, because only someone who was there can adequately and expertly answer questions.
Your site looks great, well done, Colonel.

X HSL-33, HS-5

P.S.
My last squadron, HSL-33, drew its lineage back to HA(L)-3, and one of my pilots (a Navy Cross-er named John Gana) flew from the base you mentioned and during that approximate time frame. I know its a long shot, but does the name sound familiar? He and Greg (?) Wiant are the only two I know that were in the HALs. Crazy when they had to be, saner than most when they didnt.

Comments: Enjoyed your web page. I ran across it when I was looking for a .wav file to use on the 48th AHC Web page opening screen. I used the 27 second .wav of yours I found on web clip art net links. I have only been working on the 48th AHC web page for about three months so it isn't anywhere near the quality of yours.
