Enemy vulture bides its time

Saturday, June 18, 2005 10:03 PM CDT

Public opinion polls now indicate that a clear majority of the American people no longer support the war in Iraq. Fifty-nine percent want to pull out immediately, or on a definitive timetable, and 56 percent believe the war is "not worth it."

From this, it's obvious that 59 percent of the American people didn't have a clue as to fact that they were personally under attack by terrorists as they participated in the poll. Unbeknownst to the clueless 59 percent, the conflict in Iraq is only one of possibly several battles to be fought in the protracted war against terrorism ... World War III?

Because of the American people's failure to understand this fact, the ultimate battle is destined to be fought on our home front.

For this clueless 59 percent: As impending terrorist bombings and atrocities mount on our home front, please don't expect to be polled as to whether you support the war on terrorism in the United States, whether you want to pull out immediately or on a definitive timetable or whether you believe the war is "not worth it."

An "exit strategy" in Iraq today will only lead to an impending "survival strategy" in the United States.

I feel that we all would do well to understand that the war on terrorism is only a prelude to a larger confrontation by an enemy vulture who soars above, contentedly biding its time.
