Subject: Letters Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 14:18:06 -0600 From: "Armond C. Simmons" Organization: SIMMONSPORT To: Meridian Star Noel Polk's "Anti-Vietnam protests were justified", Dec 18 Letter is among those who "so clearly" still don't get it. He states, "Let me repeat so it's clear: The government was wrong and the protesters were right. It was a lousy, criminal war, wrongly promoted by our leaders --" Most Vietnam Vets would agree that the government was wrong. It was wrong in not pursuing the war to a quick victory. The government's biggest blunder was in listening to the cowardly protesters when they should have listened to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "The world consists largely of weak men made and kept free by better men than themselves."
