Reginald Nixon's recent letter, "'Positives' of Slavery Just Cruel Myth" continued to reiterate "how cruel the institution of slavery really was" seemingly in an attempt to obscure the real point -- or possibly Reginald just allowed the point to pass him by.
Few, including Reginald, can't begin to explain just how dastardly cruel the institution of slavery really was, but who also can't deny the fact that today's citizen descendents of slaves enjoy a degree of freedom, wealth, health and opportunity that's eons beyond that of the country from whence they were sold.
This vast present-day chasm of comparative
human kinfolk welfare is further evidenced by the descendents of
slave kin who escaped slavery and remained abroad but today risk life and limb
to cross our borders in an attempt to enjoy that same freedom and
opportunity enjoyed by their US citizen kin, albeit gained through a sad but ultimately rewarding quirk of
fate called "slavery".
